Located in the heart of Disney in Kissimmee, Florida, Osceola School District is certainly no Mickey Mouse outfit. The fastest growing school district in the State of Florida has selected Direct Sales of Bizco in Lincoln, Nebraska, as their IBM laptop provider on what will be a 5-year procurement agreement. “Partnered with IBM, Direct Sales put together all of the elements it took to win this business” stated Matt Menard from IBM. The bid not only required a top quality notebook, but also had to include a comprehensive web ordering interface to be used throughout the school district.
Rosalind Riser, Director of Instructional Services, said “It’s not just about price; it’s about service, and Direct Sales and our sales person, Kent Marshall, have been absolutely great to work with.” Direct Sales is active in communicating the latest in portable technology to the district as recently demonstrated by a technology briefing held jointly with IBM, Direct Sales, and the school district’s technology coordinators. IBM and Direct Sales brought in, and put to the test, some of the latest IBM models, including those with integrated wireless networking which the district has been deploying throughout its schools.
Osceola continues to strive for innovation in education as demonstrated by Rosalind’s vision of an all laptop high school in 2004. This state of the art facility will be equipped with over 500 IBM Thinkpads delivering applications to the students and faculty.
Together, Osceola and Direct Sales will continue to deliver portable technology solutions to meet the ever changing and growing thirst for technology in today’s education environments.
